Ministry of Sound Fights Local Authorities to keep its Doors Open

On September 6th 2011 local borough council will effectively decide the fate of Ministry of Sound club’s future, if they agree plans to develop a residential block directly across the road from the venue. Ministry of Sound needs your signature to help fight council plans to close the club.  

Ministry of Sound is not just a nightclub. Millions of people have passed through our doors during the 20 years that we have been open. 300,000 people visit us annually, bringing trade to Elephant & Castle and the surrounding area. We have always strived to create the moments that people live for, and we will continue to do so. We are the people that come here, the people that work here, the music that is played here and the lifelong bonds that are made here. If we lose Ministry of Sound, we are losing a vital piece of youth culture in this country. Nightclubs may have existed before Ministry of Sound, but they were never the same afterwards.

Laura Jones

Laura Jones is a deep-tech house producer and DJ from the UK. Now residing in Leeds, she has had a passion for music ever since she learned to play the piano at age 4. This up and coming artist has already produced several tracks for Leftroom Recordings and her sound is the next evolution of house. Doorly

Doorly from the UK is the genre hopping DJ/Producer presiding over an electronic melting pot of techno, electro, garage, dnb and dubstep doused with hip-hop and splashes of indie. Since his mind-blowing sets on BBC Radio 1, Doorly has been gaining recognition for his music style and remixes. This is one artist we are certain to hear more of in 2011, and look forward to seeing him on the festival circuit this summer. Its also easy to see why his live sets are described as 'an old school block party DJ set using new school technology'. 

Mute Speaker

Mute Speaker real name Rob O'Hara from Brighton in the UK, produces some chill downtempo grooves. We could not find much information about this aspiring artist BUT we do know one thing, we love his music! You can download Mute Speakers entire album on Bandcamp and don't forget to show support.


Statelapse

Statelapse (aka Luke Fenn and Leigh Shields) are two dubstep wizards from Huddersfield, UK. The pair first met in 2007 and soon began producing Drum and Bass. They were signed to Wrecked Records in 2008 and later made the switch to dubstep a year later. In August 2010 Statelapse received airplay on Radio 1 from Kissy Sell Out, and in the same month pushed their first big release ‘Mad House’. Their music can be described as dirty, massive, dark, gritty and grimy. Have a listen and see what we mean.
