Punks Jump Up

Punks Jump Up is Londoner, Joe Attard and Swede David Anderson, and their music is an adventure of sound and substance. With a love of The Clash, 909's, Nike trainers and Stussy rings, they have pushed their sound in different directions from punk-funk to speed garage. Starting out throwing parties in east London in 2004, they quickly moved on to making music because there weren’t enough tunes around that sounded like what they wanted to hear at the time. Their own Cartridge label has released 12's with notable artists such as Simian Mobile Disco. Have yourself listen below.

Sónar Music Fest Goes Global

Sónar is an annual three-day music festival held in Barcelona, Spain. It is described officially as a festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art. Music is by far the main aspect of the festival.  With the success of the event this earlier this year in Chicago, they have now added more stops on the list.

Sónar 2011 will take place in Barcelona on the 16th, 17th and 18th of June in the usual venues for Sónar by Day (CCCB and MACBA) and Sónar by Night (the Auditori and the Fira Gran Via).

The second edition of Sónar Galicia will take place the 17th and 18th of June in A Coruña. Sonar Galicia comes back next year with a simultaneous edition to Sónar Barcelona. Sónar strengthen its ties with its second venue in ExpoCoruña after a successful first experiences of doubling up the festival in two different cities in Spain during the same weekend.

In 2011, Sónar will celebrate again in London on 19th of March at the Roundhouse the sixth helping of 'A Taste of Sónar'. Each year, the event is a preview of the line-up of the festival in Barcelona.

On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of April, Tokyo will be the next stop before Sónar Barcelona and Galicia. Sónar returns to Japan for the 4th SonarSound Tokyo edition. After five years away, the event will take place in the ageHa / Studio Coast venue and is preparing for the touchdown of over 20 artists over the three days.

Mr. C

Introducing Mr. C, the international man of music talent and savvy business. Although, we're sure this man needs no introduction.  Mr.C has an ear for the abstract, while seamlessly mixing and forging ahead with a plethora of house and minimalist sounds.  He has recorded under the names, Myster-E, Nu Jacks, Bass Bureau, The Shamen, Mantrac, Somnambulist, Animus Amour, Killer Loop. He is the founder & owner of Plink Plonk records, co-founder of End Recordings & co-founder & owner of Superfreq Records.

In December 1995 Mr.C opened the legendary End Club in London with Partner Layo Paskin & then AKA bar 3 years later. Sadly The End & AKA closed its doors for good on January 24th 2009 after finishing a strong 13 years.

Mr. C has helped pioneer the Tech House sound and now plays a more stripped down seductive style.  You can catch him at Warehoused in Barcelona on Friday November 5th.  Check out some of his mixes below.
